The most dangerous time to raid an enemy herd

was during full moon, when even the most cunning

horse thief could be spotted on the well lit range.

On these nights, armed sentries patrolled their stock,

knowing it was against such odds that a raider might

be tempted to test his nerve. Stolen horses were certain

to bring prestige and wealth to the brave who dared to

challenge the "Horse Thief Moon" .

It's rutting season. Across still water, the seductive yelp

of a cow moose catches the bulls attention.

Soon the sound of urination (water scooped and

expertly spilled from the narrow end of the birch bark

horn) will be more than the love sick, near sighted

bull moose can resist. As he bounds toward the object

of his desire, the hunters will be ready.

Slightly larger than the published image, the art is

typography-free and beautiful! Many of the newer

pages (mid 90's to present) are still available.
